Baseball Owners Concerned About New York Mets Big Spending Spree

Multiple MLB owners are worried after New York Mets owner Steve Cohen went on an unprecedented shopping spree in free agency this offseason.

Some owners are reportedly concerned they won’t be able to compete for players and, inevitably, in games.

Other owners were fine with Cohen signing Edwin Diaz, Brandon Nimmo, and Justin Verlander but thought landing Carlos Correa was “over the top.”

New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said that Cohen’s spending was something that had to be “looked at” after the latter  dished out over $800 million to free agents.

Charlotte Flair Wins WWE Women’s Championship

Charlotte Flair won the Women’s title on WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

After Ronda Rousey defeated Raquel Rodriguez to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Charlotte walked out to the ring with new music and a new look.

Charlotte then challenged Rousey for the title and Rousey accepted, despite the objections from Shayna Baszler. Rousey took a boot to the face and then Rousey kicked out of the pin attempt.

Flair then hit the spear and she pinned Rousey to win the title. Then she went into the crowd to celebrate her 14th title win in WWE.

Philadelphia Eagles Beat New York Giants 22-16

The Eagles welcomed the return of quarterback Jalen Hurts and – thanks to a career performance by kicker Jake Elliott – were able to outlast the New York Giants 22-16 on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

With the win, the Eagles are 2022 NFC East Champions and they clinched the No. 1 seed, ensuring that the NFC Playoffs will come through Philadelphia. The Eagles earned the conference’s lone bye and will return to action in the Divisional Round against the lowest-remaining seed.

The Giants entered Sunday’s game locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC, regardless of what happened against the Eagles. For that reason, they rested key starters – running back Saquon Barkley, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, safety Julian Love, and tackle Andrew Thomas were inactive despite being healthy.

Daniel Jones did not start at quarterback. Instead, the Giants went with Davis Webb, who was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. The only starters on offense with offensive linemen Ben Bredeson and Nick Gates, who rotate at guard, and tackle Evan Neal.

Defensively, no full-time starters lined up on the opening drive for the Giants.
