Giants Make Decision On Saquon Barkley’s Future

The New York Giants will not franchise tag running back Saquon Barkley, making him a free agent when the signing period begins later this month.

Last offseason, Barkley, 27, and the Giants agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth up to $11 million ahead of training camp, which includes a $2 million signing bonus. The move came ahead of what could have been a lengthy potential holdout as both sides had previously failed to reach a long-term deal prior to their set deadline.

200 Madison Ave. Lobby Gets Landmark Status

The neo-Renaissance lobby inside 200 Madison Avenue has been designated a city landmark.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission unanimously approved the designation as an interior landmark. The lobby is inside the vaulted arcade that spans the building between East 35th and East 36th Streets.

Built in the 1920s by the architecture firm Warren and Wetmore, the lobby’s gilded and ornate aesthetic includes patterned terrazzo floors and marble walls. The arched bays along the ceiling are filled with floral mosaics, animal medallions and projecting lion heads, according to the LPC.

The lobby looks very much as it did when it first opened in 1926. Historic preservation experts say 200 Madison is among many treasures the city needs to protect.
