Knicks End Losing Streak, Beat Clippers

RJ Barrett erupted, Julius Randle didn’t get ejected and the Knicks didn’t blow a big lead as they ended their seven-game losing streak with  a stunning 116-93 pounding of the Clippers at Crytpo.com Arena.

In the third quarter, trailing by double digits, Clippers point guard Reggie Jackson soared in for a breakaway dunk and clanked it. Randle got the rebound and fired toward the basket on the other end for his own jam, smiling all the way downcourt.

The Knicks held  the Clippers to 30 percent shooting in the first half while building a 19-point lead at intermission. The lead ballooned to 30 points in the fourth quarter.

The Knicks, who had lost 11 of 12, haven’t had a night like this in a long time.

“It was a great all-around win,” Tom Thibodeau said. “Our starters played really well.”

Kia Recalls Over 400,000 Vehicles

Kia announced it is recalling over 410,00 vehicles in the United States because of an issue that may result in the airbags failing to inflate in a crash. The recall includes certain 2017-2019 Sedona, Soul, Soul EV, and Forte vehicles.

“The Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) cover may contact a memory chip on the printed circuit board and damage the electrical circuit. Circuit damage may result in deactivated airbags that will not deploy in a crash,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explained.

Kia said it has received 13 customer complaints and 947 warranty claims due to the issue since July. The car company noted there have been no reports of accidents or injuries due to the problem.

Owners will be notified by mail and will be able to bring their vehicle to a dealership where technicians will either update the software or replace the control unit.

Brooklyn Nets Trade James Harden to Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons

The Brooklyn Nets dreams of winning a championship featuring a Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden are officially dead.

With less than two hours to go before the NBA season’s trade deadline, Brooklyn agreed to move Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round picks.

Brooklyn acquired Harden from the Houston Rockets last year in exchange for three first-round picks, four first-round swaps, Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, and Rodions Kurucs. Despite forming a Big 3 of Durant, Irving, and Harden, the Nets were knocked out of the NBA Playoffs in the second round, losing to the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks.

This season, Irving has been used as a part-time player because his refusal to get vaccinated against Covid-19 bars him from entering Brooklyn’s home arena. Durant is currently injured and Harden grew increasingly disgruntled as the lone superstar.

The Nets chose to trade Harden now, rather than lose him without a return in free agency at the end of the season.
