Cowboys Crush New York Jets 30-10

The first half action was dominated by the Cowboys, who moved the ball at will against the vaunted Jets defense. Only a long catch-and-run touchdown pass from Zach Wilson to Garrett Wilson saved the Jets from being down 15 points at halftime.

With the score Cowboys 18, Jets 10, the Jets took over on offense at their own 25 to start the second half. They promptly went three and out, as the Jets offense continued to look overmatched against the Cowboys defense. The ensuing Jets punt gave the Cowboys a short field as they started their first drive of the second half at their own 42 yard line. The Cowboys took advantage.

The Jets could do nothing and after another Jets punt the Cowboys methodically moved downfield before settling for a short field goal and a three score lead at 27 – 10 early in the fourth quarter. At this point the game was all but over.

Daniel Jones Leads Giants Over Cardinals 31-28

They entered the Week 2 game against the Cardinals and the first two quarters were an extension of the Week 1 beatdown at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys with Arizona scoring on all but one drive and taking a 20-0 lead into halftime.

The futility was highlighted by a Daniel Jones interception that went right off the hands of running back Saquon Barkley for the second consecutive week.

The Giants did come out in the third quarter and show some fire on the shoulders of Jones, but each time they punched, the Cardinals punched right back.

The defense picked up stops when they needed it and the Giants offense, which couldn’t buy a point for six quarters to start the season, scored on five consecutive drives.

QB Aaron Rodgers Done for Season

The quarterback was injured on his fourth play of the Jets’ opening game. Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters following the Jets’ 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills that the the four-time NFL MVP tore his Achilles tendon.

The injury will be season-ending. On the Jets’ first drive Monday night,  Rodgers was injured and helped off the field by trainers. After a visit to the blue medical tent, he was carted to the locker room. After initially being labeled as questionable to return with an ankle injury, he was later downgraded to out.

Rodgers suffered the injury after being sacked by veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd on a first-and-10 with 11:40 remaining in the first quarter.
