Washington Football Team Are Now The Commanders

It’s official: The Washington Football Team will now be known as the Washington Commanders.

The NFL’s D.C. franchise revealed its new moniker during a live streaming ceremony on their verified social media accounts.

The Commanders also shared several graphics displaying their new name and uniforms, which remain their signature burgundy and gold.

“As an organization, we are excited to rally and rise together as one under our new identity while paying homage to our local roots and what it means to represent the nation’s capital,” co-owner and co-CEO Daniel Snyder said in a statement.

“As we kick-off our 90th season, it is important for our organization and fans to pay tribute to our past traditions, history, legacy and the greats that came before us. We continue to honor and represent the Burgundy & Gold while forging a pathway to a new era in Washington. Today may mark the first day for the Washington Commanders, but we are and always will be Washington.”

Jayhawks Complete Historic Comeback To Win NCAA Championship

Kansas made March Madness history with a 72-69 victory over UNC in the 2022 NCAA Tournament championship game.

The Jayhawks overcame a 16-point deficit (and 15-point halftime deficit) to claim Kansas’ fourth national championship, and second under Bill Self. In so doing, they also registered one of the largest comebacks in NCAA Tournament history.

The game was marked by huge scoring runs by both teams. UNC took its massive lead in the first half with an 18-7 run, at one point going up 38-22, the largest lead of either team all night. The Tar Heels ultimately took a 40-25 lead into halftime.

But Kansas stormed back in the second half, punctuated by a 12-1 run out of halftime. The Jayhawks ultimately outscored UNC 47-29 in the second half to take the victory.

Brock Nelson Leads NHL Islanders

The New York Islanders needed a near-perfect Week 18, but had some disappointing results instead.

Their come-from- behind-win against the Boston Bruins was a dominant one, but the Islanders went winless in their other two games this week. They lost an ugly one in regulation to the inferior Buffalo Sabres, who were able to score a whopping six goals against what’s supposed to be one of the absolute best defensive teams in the game.

The Islanders did earn a point against the Montreal Canadiens but seeing as they’re the worst team in the league and one of the worst in NHL history, the Islanders needed more.

Because these unfortunate instances seem to be recurring, making the playoffs will be a miracle for the Islanders. Someone who’s going to be crucial in this race is Brock Nelson, who was the team’s best player last week.
